Morecambe and the Ribble Valley

Day One

Depart from your selected joining point and travel to the Morecambe and the Auckland Hotel. Comfort stops will be made en-route.

Day Two

A guide will join the coach for an informative tour of the Ribble Valley. The tour starts with a view of the magnificent Samlesbury Hall, one of the top 10 most haunted houses in England. Hoghton Tower is next, with historic connections to William Shakespeare, James I and VI of Scotland and the knighting of Sir Loin of Beef. We pass through Clayton-le-Moors (so named for the 'clay on the moors') and hear of its connections with the Lancashire cotton workers and Irish navigators, before finishing with a fascinating visit to England's largest village, Whalley. Then free time in Oswaldtwistle Mills, a great shopping experience.

Day Three

Take an informal and entertaining tour of the award-winning Leighton Hall, an elegant Georgian country house, featuring remarkable architecture, including intricate interiors and stunning period furnishings that showcase its rich history. This is the stunning home of the Gillow furniture making family. Also visit the city of Lancaster, known for its well-preserved architecture and charming centre with cobbled streets.

Day Four

A free day to relax with a walk along the bay and jetty; or perhaps visit the heritage Centre to find out about the towns maritime past.

Day Five

After breakfast you leave Morecambe and journey home. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
