Criccieth is a small seaside town perfectly situated on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park and at the gateway to the stunning, wild scenery of the Llŷn Peninsula.  The town is dominated by the impressive remains of its thirteenth-century castle, dating from the reign of Llewelyn the Great (1200-1240).  The scenery in North Wales is superb with fine beaches, tumbling rivers and the mountains, lakes and waterfalls of Snowdonia.

Visit Portmeirion, one of Wales’ premier visitor attractions. Built over decades from the 1920s, Sir Clough Williams-Ellis designed this utterly unique place in the style of an Italian village, built in homage to the spirit of the Mediterranean. Portmeirion's maze of elaborate villas, scattered domes and neatly placed squares are set within gardens and an encompassing area of unbeatable natural beauty. Return to Criccieth via the seaside town of Porthmadog, gateway to Snowdonia.

Ffestiniog Railway

A journey on the world-famous Ffestiniog Railway from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog. Outstanding scenery, comfortable carriages and historic steam engines await you - step back in time to a more civilised age. There will be some free time in the pretty village of Betws-y-Coed before seeing ‘The Ugly House’, the Pass of Llanberis and Pwllheli, a market and coastal town on the Llyn Peninsula.
