Scenic Royal Deeside is an area much-loved by the Royal family, steeped in centuries of history with enchanting castles, churches, wildlife and of course stunning scenery.


Included in this holiday is a delightful cruise on the legendary Loch Ness and a visit to the Highland Folk Museum.

Loch Ness

Enjoy a one-hour cruise on the mystical Loch Ness, where you will hear of the legends and do a spot of ‘monster hunting’! Then to the city of Inverness, known as the ‘Capital of the Highlands’ which sits on the banks of the River Ness. Lavishly decorated with flowers, it has many attractions including the castle, cathedral and museum and there are many shops and riverside restaurants.

Royal Deeside

A scenic excursion to the area known as Royal Deeside, travelling past the Cairngorm and Grampian Mountains before arriving in the pretty Victorian village of Ballater. This picturesque place has many ‘By Royal Appointment’ signs and fascinating speciality shops. Pass Crathie Church, where many a Royal Wedding has taken place before some free time in Braemar. A delightful place surrounded by spectacular scenery. Travel on through the stunning Spittal of Glenshee, a hidden gem where four Glens meet, before some free time in the Victorian town of Pitlochry.

Highland Folk Museum

A half day excursion taking in the ski resort of Aviemore and a visit to the Highland Folk Museum. How Highland people lived and worked from the 1700s to the 1960s is shown throughout the historical buildings, houses, a working croft and furnishings. There is also a gift shop and café.

Belfast-Cairnryan: 0730 and Cairnryan-Belfast: 1930 (return time approximately 2200)

Balavil Hotel, Newtonmore


A family run, traditional Scottish hotel set in the heart of Newtonmore.  Open fires and a wood panelled bar help create the warm and friendly Scottish atmosphere.  You may wish to enjoy the recently refurbished swimming pool.
